Force Motors India launched the new 2013 version of their Mahindra Thar rival Off-roader 'Gurkha' at the on-going Bus & Utility Vehicle Show, Noida. According to FMI, their vehicle is the world's first EOV (Extreme Off-Road Vehicle) & undoubtedly the kind of off-roading capabilities this vehicle possesses, it can be called an Indian Commoner's localised G-Wagon.
Powered by a 2.6 Ltrs. Turbo-Charged OM 616 Mercedes-Benz engine which pushes 82 bhp @ 3200 rpm of peak power & 230 nm @ 1900 rpm of peak torque mated with a 5-speed Synchromesh Transmission.
Differential locks on both front & rear axles, Reinforced tubbular ladder frame chasis, Chrome treated exhaust Snorkel & 210 mm of best in class ground clearence, these type of qualities make this vehicle a real hard hitter. This SUV also comes with some city friendly features such as company fitted Air-conditioner & Power-Steering.
For now, Force Gurkha is available in only BS-III compliant but the BS-IV is in the pipeline & offers a total 3 variants - Soft Top 4X2, Soft Top 4X4 & Hard Top 4X4.
