After showcasing its concept at numerous Auto-shows worldwide, production model of Volkswagen XL1 2 seater hybrid - the world's most fuel efficient vehicle makes her debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2013. According to a press release from the VW group, the car will be launched next year & will be produced at their Osnabrueck factory in Germany.
Powered by the Diesel Plug-in Hybrid technology comprising a 2 cylindered 48 ps 800 cc TDI Diesel mill & 27 ps 20 Kw electric motor mated with 7-speed dual clutch automatic tranmission. Sprints 0-100 in 12.7 sec. with an electronically limited top knock of 160 km/hr. This super efficient vehicle promises to deliver a staggering mileage of 111 km/ltr.
Talking about the body dimensions of this German Beauty, it is 3,888 long X 1,665 wide X 1,553 mm tall physically. Carbon-Fibre dominates the manufacturing of XL1 body & only 23% of iron-steel is used in it which helps this car to keep its curb weight to just 1,750 lbs (800 kgs). Emissions are allmost negligible from this super efficient vehicle.
Rudolf Krebs, Electric car Chief of the VW group quoted that next year Volkswagen will launch several plug-in technology versions of their successful cars such which includes VW Golf hatch, VW Passat, Audi Q7, Audi A3 & Porsche Cayenne.
